November 4, 2023 – A dazzling showcase by the Federation of Indonesian Culture and Creative Sports (FOKBI), together with the Indonesian Poco-Poco Ambassadors Goes To Washington DC, USA, took place during the Remarkable Indonesia Festival on Pennsylvania Ave, 6th St – 7th St, Washington DC, United States, on November 4, 2023. The event successfully captivated the high-spirited audience along the famous Pennsylvania Avenue, right in front of Capitol Hills, USA.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Bank BRI, and Tiket.com, the event was a display of appreciation for the efforts in preserving Indonesian cultural values, particularly in the art of rhythmic motion and song creation, while also fostering pride in the achievements of the Poco-Poco Gymnastics Team from the Medan Diaspora and Viola Nailal Shafitri from Muara Enim, South Sumatra. These extraordinary individuals had successfully participated in the Poco-Poco competition, Indonesia Goes To USA, held earlier on November 21, 2023, at Sasana Langgeng Budaya TMII in Jakarta.
Sapta Nirwandar, Chairman of FOKBI, stated, “We sought to bring Poco-Poco into the public eye in Washington DC to provide invaluable experiences for the winners of the Poco-Poco competition and to showcase the richness of Indonesian culture on the international stage.” Accompanied by Vice Chairman of FOKBI, Lily Greta Karmel, and Secretary General, Darminto Angeline Suryanti, Sapta Nirwandar expressed his gratitude as Chairman of the Committee, acknowledging that the Poco-Poco dance is renowned for its energetic and joyous movements. Simple steps like side-to-side movements, kicking legs, and jumping make this dance accessible to all ages. When the Indonesian community in Washington DC, as well as communities worldwide, witness people dancing with spirit and smiling faces, it brings happiness to their daily lives.
With exceptional support from Tiket.com and Bank BRI, the winners of this competition were given a golden opportunity to perform in a Poco-Poco Flash Mob at the “Remarkable Indonesia” event, which took place on November 4 on Pennsylvania Ave, 6th St – 7th St, Washington DC, USA. FOKBI and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy are immensely grateful to everyone who supported and participated in the success of “Poco-Poco Indonesia Goes To Washington DC, USA.” (RED)
